Mr Slim

Suitable to heat or cool a huge variety of applications, the Mr Slim range is one of Britain’s best selling air conditioning split-systems. Combine the efficiency with the complete versatility that this range has to offer and the possibilities are virtually infinite.

Mr Slim derives its name from the neatly designed outdoor units – one of the first to offer wall mounting as an alternative to roof mounting. The name can equally be applied to the wide range of compact and attractive indoor units that are available. With a wide range of heating and cooling capacities and auto-changeover as standard, this range is ideal for use in a variety of configurations suited to spaces such as offices, restaurants and shops.

Mr Slim units are more than just physically compact and discreet. They’re also amongst the quietest operating units available, which means that apart from enjoying a comfortable, controllable environment, users hardly know Mr Slim is there at all.

Energy efficient and environmentally friendly

Fitted with some of the most efficient compressors, the Mr Slim range provides constant comfort, low running costs and minimal maintenance. The use of (ozone friendly) refrigerant R410A ensures that this system has zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential). In addition, near-silent operation is made possible by using an advanced fan and grille design, as well as a low noise mode to reduce noise levels to a minimum.

A Wide Range of Models

Newly improved R410A Power Inverters are now available in Wall Mounted, Ceiling Cassette, Ceiling Suspended, Floor and Ducted types from 3.6 through to 44kW model sizes. The 10, 12.5,14,19 & 22kW sizes are also available in 3-phase power supply.

Providing an inverter solution at a lower capital cost than the Power Inverter range, the new Standard Inverter outdoor models continue to offer high efficiency as standard, with many systems qualifying for Enhanced Capital Allowance. Standard Inverters are available in 10, 12.5 and 14kW model sizes, in both single and 3-phase. Also available are 19 & 22kW 3-phase versions.

Re-use of existing pipe work

Upgrading existing R22 systems to efficient inverter models

In general the upgrading of existing R22 systems to modern efficient R410A systems has been a difficult or expensive option. This is because the existing pipe work would either have to be replaced, or cleaned with dedicated specialist equipment. These actions are necessary as the chlorine residue from R22 system pipe work caused chemical reactions with the lubricating oils used in HFC compressors, the result being poor performance and system failure.

Mitsubishi Electric’s Replace Technology*¹

The Mr Slim Power Inverter range contains ‘Replace Technology’ to allow the upgrading of R22 systems using existing pipe work without the need to apply any special cleaning machines. Sizes 35 to 71 utilise the Mitsubishi Electric patented Hard Alkyl Benzene (HAB) oil, a unique oil that is more tolerant of contamination. By combining this oil with developments in oil separator technology it is possible for these models to use existing pipe work without any special operations. Sizes 100 to 250 continue to use the more familiar Ester Oils that are sensitive to chemical contamination. To allow these models to utilise existing R22 pipe work a unique ‘Replace Filter’ containing activated charcoal has been included in the refrigerant circuit. During commissioning the system is operated in ‘Replace Mode’, this operation removing all the chlorine contamination from the existing pipe work allowing trouble free operation.
